When do you know you are ready for the job ahead? The crucifixion of Christ had closed the doors on dreams and aspirations of His followers. Then according to His promise, Christ rose from the dead. For 40 days a risen Christ had demonstrated His truth, that He was the Son of God and that He had died and rose for them.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Psalm 22:1

         The Christian writer James Kushiner asks, “Back in the first century, what went through the minds of the crowd as Jesus passed by to loud Hosannas? What were they hoping this new messiah would bring?” Expecting a kingdom, James and John requested positions of power. Many people had seen or heard the message and miraculous power of Jesus and must have felt it was only a matter of time before Jesus would bring a better life for them. Everybody Loves a Parade- Psalm 118

Pastor Ken Sype will be our guest pastor for Palm Sunday. Pastor Sype and his wife Jane moved to Lincoln after serving as pastor at congregations in Iola and Overland Park, Kansas. The Sype’s are personally familiar with church planting  having started Christ Lutheran Church and School in Overland. Many of you know Chara Sype, their daughter, who was one of the founding members of Word of Life. Chara is presently teaching in a Christian school in South Africa.
