In Your Presence!  Psalm 16:11

I have always loved the wise statement that common sense is not common.

Something that is so basic, agrees with what everyone should have been taught, is not grasped by the majority. Similarly, the desire to be in the presence of the Lord, what would appear to everyone to be so beneficial, so desirable, so needed is also, should we say, lacking. How can we not want to be in the presence of the Lord? As David wrote, “in Your presence there is fullness of joy.”

So we agree that being in the Lord’s presence is something that we want. Do you also agree that the priority of being in His presence in our lives is not where you want it to be? What holds you back, makes it more difficult to desire and be blessed with His presence? What is the answer to overcome the reluctance, the stubbornness that separates you from being more fully in His presence? The angel appearing to the shepherds in the field spoke to them these words, Fear not, “I bring you great news …” That news spoken by the angel contains the answer as you pray and trust knowing you will find.

Question of the week: Who selected David, still a boy, while shepherding his father Jesse’s sheep, to be the King of Israel?

Answer: The Prophet Samuel was sent by God to anoint a son of Jesse to be the king. God showed Samuel, that the anointed one was to be David. The Scriptures read,” And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David from that day forward.”  1 Samuel 16:13
