What Is In A Name?
Broncos versus the Seahawks. Do we have a strong indicator if Denver or Seattle will win Sunday based on the names of their mascots, their brand names or logo? It has to be the Broncos, right? A wild mustang should be able to handle any kind of bird, shouldn’t it? Not so fast! The seahawk is a raptor that survives by its catch of the day. Seahawk is a Native American name for “the fish hawk” or “fish eagle” or “Osprey.” Osprey is derived from the Latin word ossifragus, meaning “a bone breaker.” It seems we still have a credible debate, if we are just selecting the best name to predict a winner.

When Paul wrote the believers at Philippi he was concerned about a different contest that, yes, not only overshadows but completely supersedes Sunday’s Super Bowl contest. He wanted to thank and encourage his brothers and sisters who by the Spirit, he had led to the logos of Life. He gave them a name that spoke of their identity with the name of all names. It was a name that embraced them and us with power, strength and duty and direction. What was that name? Phil. 1:5.

Update on our LifeCenter
The Planning Team meets with Rick Geiler, our architect, on Feb. 3. We will be finalizing the bid plans which then will be distributed to be returned by late February. A meeting was held with Cattle Bank in Seward to discuss final loan details on Jan. 24. A test well was drilled in January on our property and an adequate supply of excellent quality water was found. Construction will start as weather permits in March or April. Projected completion of the LifeCenter is Thanksgiving 2014.

We pray and trust that God will lead us as we go, serving Him. Our LifeCenter for Christ and Community Campaign Co-Leaders are R.O. Ouellette and Jason and Lynette Windhorst, Mike McHargue and Tom Hoegemeyer. Contact me, Pastor Larry at 402-641-3692 or larkitoetting@yahoo.org for information on our prayer team and the vision we have in serving Him.
