“Share Christ’s Suffering” – 1 Peter 4:13
Perhaps the disciples of Jesus should have known what was going to happen that evening, but they didn’t. Even Peter, along with James and John, slept during the last hour of Christ’s freedom. It was a devastating and lonely time for Christ as He prayed in the garden, knowing that what Isaiah had written was soon to begin. Sit down beside Him and listen.
“He was despised and rejected — a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrow that weighed him down… But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole.
He was whipped so we could be healed.” Isaiah 53:3,4a & 5.
Question for Good Friday: How many years before crucifixion did Isaiah write his prophecy about the suffering of Jesus?
Answer: Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Isaiah wrote his prophecy about 700 years before the Friday that Christ died.
