The Question of Life – “This Thing Called Love”
The Pharisees hoped to stump Jesus with a question that could not be answered. They wanted to show their intellectual and theological superiority. The Sadducees had tried and failed and now it was their turn. “Jesus,” they asked, “What is the greatest commandment?” It was a not a serious question but rather a trap.
Jesus answered, “The greatest commandment is love,” and then added who you love and how you love. Not only did he avoid the Pharisee’s intended trap and trap them instead, He revealed to us the inner mystery of this thing called love. In His answer we are told how to you live with this thing called love.
Question of the Week: Jesus was asked this question meant to trap Him, “What is the greatest commandment?” He replied, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:35-37. Then Jesus gave a second commandment which He said was like it. What is the second great commandment?
Answer: Check out your answer in Matthew 22:38-39.
Update on our LifeCenter
The Planning Team met twice in August with our architect, Rick Geiler. Rick reported that he had a very encouraging meeting in early August with city officials in which they discussed building details of the LifeCenter. In that meeting, the fire chief gave the important opinion that we will not have to install a sprinkler system in the building.
More design details were proposed by Geiler to the Planning Team and approved. Site details approved include those that will reduce grading and eliminate a need for fill dirt. The Team also completed the Detailed Design aspects of the building, including decisions such as location and number of cabinet, shelves, etc. The design is now submitted to contractors for bids on the various aspects of the building. Receiving those bids will allow us to determine costs and when construction will start.
Our next Planning Team Meeting is Monday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m., we will have a Countdown Dinner Event.
We pray and trust that God will lead us as we go, serving Him. Our LifeCenter for Christ and Community Campaign Co-Leaders are R.O. Ouellette and Jason and Lynette Windhorst. Contact Pastor Larry at 402-641-3692 or larkitoetting@yahoo.org for information on our prayer team and the vision we have in serving Him.
