“Be An Obed-Edom!”
What do fathers and all people who help parent children have to do with Obed-Omen? The brief story about Obed-Omen is found in 2 Samuel 6:11, “The Ark of the Lord remained there in Obed-Edom’s house for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and his entire household. God was in the house of Obed-Edom and the household was blessed.”

How do we bless those who we parent? What does Scripture tell us about the role of the father as the encourager? Is it something we give, something we do or is it how we do it?

Question of the week: When Isaac was asked about Rebekah, his wife, by the men of the country where he had just moved, he said, “She is my sister.” He was afraid to say, “She is my wife.” He thought, “They will kill me to get her, because she is so beautiful.” Genesis 26:7. Why does that lie sound familiar?

Answer: Isaac’s father Abraham had tried the same deception and lied to the Egyptian Pharaoh that Sarah, his wife, was his sister.
