“The Crown of Life!”
How many crowns do you wear? That is not a question that is asked very often. You might ask, what do you mean? I have been asked how many hats do you wear, but never how many crowns. Scripture tells us we get to wear 5 crowns. This past week at Vacation Bible School we learned about each one and how wearing them we Shine with the brightness given to us by God.
Question of the week: What is the origin of Vacation Bible School? When and where did it start?
Answer: The origins of Vacation Bible School can be traced back to Hopedale, Illinois, in 1894. Sunday school teacher D.T. Miles, who also was a public school teacher, felt she was limited by time constraints in teaching the Bible to children. So, she started a daily Bible school to teach children during the summer. The first Bible school enrolled forty students and lasted four weeks. A local school was used for classes, while an adjoining park was used for recess.
Get-Together Lunch
Master Chef R.O. is preparing brisket and brats for our get-together meal. Details of the Life Center building progress as well as our fund raising efforts will be shared. Bring a desert or salad and celebrate with and thank the VBS participants, parents, and teachers who are our guests.
