Ezekiel- “The Word of the LORD!
The conquest of the Southern Kingdom of Israel by Babylon happened in three stages over a period of 12 years with deportation of the citizens of Judah in each of those three successful attacks. The priest and prophet Ezekiel was part of the second deportation. It was in Babylon that Ezekiel heard the Word of the Lord, where he lived and where he prophesied.
Ezekiel spoke to his contemporaries in Judah and in exile in Babylon, telling them of the love of God for them but also warning them that punishment would come if they didn’t turn from their sinful ways, false gods and false prophets. God speaking through Ezekiel revealed that the priest of Israel had deserted their sheep, and cared only for themselves. God then declares “The word of the LORD came to me:… I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God. Ezekiel 34:1 & 15 How would this happen? Who are these sheep? What is God’s plan?

Answer: The terms Major Prophets and Minor Prophets are simply a way to divide the Old Testament prophetic books. The Major Prophets are described as “major” because their books are longer and the content has broad, even global implications. The Major Prophets are Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel. The Minor Prophets are Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. The Minor Prophets are also sometimes called The Twelve.
