Have Faith- Hebrews 10:39
As we leave the old year and enter the new, what have we just heard with
The Christmas story that leads us and gives us courage??
Powerful wordsof hope, linked with wonderful displays of faith, encouragement and
direction to live in Christ’s strength and peace. Above all we hear the
angel’s message, “For Unto You.” As we look with the shepherds into the
manger we see the promise given by God that personally gives us
confidence and endurance to live now as we look forward to life eternal.
The Magi from the east heard the message through the “Star of Bethlehem.” And so they became the first gentiles to worship the King of all kings. With courage they traveled with the faith that the star would lead them to a discovery, a promise from God. As God led them, He leads us into the New Year. For by God’s grace, “…we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.” Hebrews 10:39 “For unto you” is all we need to know- the Star leads us.
Question: What do we know about the Magi that came to honor Jesus?

Although the account does not mention the number of Magi, the three gifts has led to the widespread assumption that there were three men. Their identification as kings in later Christian writings is probably linked to Psalms 72:11, “May all kings fall down before him”. According to Western church tradition they were named Balthasar, Melchior and Gaspar. Balthasar, is often represented as a king of Arabia, Melchior as a king of Persia, and Gaspar as a king of India.” These names apparently derive from a Greek manuscript probably composed in Alexandria around 500,
