When you’re introduced to someone for the first time, usually you learn their name, where they’re from, and other basic information. Then, if you get a chance to talk a little more, you get to learn more too. They might tell you about their family, more about where they came from, their hobbies, their interests – all sorts of things that fill out the picture of who they are. In Part 1 – The Early Years, we’re going to start filling out the picture of who Jesus is. As part of his effort to write an “orderly account” to give Theophilus “certainty concerning the things,” he’s been taught, Luke starts us off before Jesus is born, with the announcement of John’s birth. Then he fills in where Jesus came from, who his family is, some of the incredible events surrounding his birth, and more! |
