The Tree of Life.” Rev. 1:8
Why was there a Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden? There wasn’t a Tree of Death or was there? Yes, there were two special trees. Along with the Tree of Life there was the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, the forbidden tree.
The fruit of the Tree of Life and all other trees could be eaten but eating the fruit of the forbidden tree would bring death and so yes, there was a Tree of Death. Adam and Eve, tempted by the devil, sought the knowledge of good and evil and ate the forbidden fruit. Could they now go to the Tree of Life?
The answer for Adam and Eve was no. They were driven out of the Garden of Eden so they could not eat the fruit of the Tree of Life. What hope did they have? Was all lost for them and us? Will we ever be able to eat of the Tree of Life?
Question of the week: Where was the Garden of Eden located?
Answer: We really don’t know. It is often speculated that the original location of Eden was in the Middle East, because the Tigris and Euphrates are the names of two of the rivers mentioned in the Scripture account. However all four rivers mentioned in Scripture flowed out of Eden and so the topographical description of the Garden of Eden does not match the present geography.
