QUARTERLY UPDATE

February 1, immediately after service, stay for a brief quarterly update meeting. We will discuss our budget, ministries, and give a quick update on the Call process, don’t miss it!

WOW – “Women Of the Word” GALENTINE’S DAY PARTY

Our women’s group has gotten a new name… same fun group of ladies, with a new name – WOW! WOW stands for Women Of the Word, and that is what we are, women who love getting together, studying God’s word, and supporting one another through all of life. We hope you’ll join us… the only requirement is that you are a woman!

Our first get together this year is a Galentine’s Day party! Fondue, friends, and faith – How sweet! February 1, 2-4pm.

SOUTH SUDAN MISSION SUPPORT

Here is an opportunity to support the the South Sudanese Christians still in South Sudan from which our members and friends emigrated just a few decades ago.

St Mark’s Methodist CHURCH is hosting a Mercy Meals packing event Feb 15 from 7:30-12 and OGT Lincoln will be shipping to Mission Gardens of Christ in South Sudan led by Pastor Stephen Mathiang. People can sign up on the church website if you want to help.

ADULT MEMBERSHIP CLASS

Starting February 18, following the Lenten services we will offer an Adult Membership class. If you’re looking to join our church or looking to learn more about Lutheran beliefs this class is for you! BIG GAME WATCH PARTY

A great fellowship opportunity is headed your way on Sunday, February 8…the BIG FOOTBALL GAME! Bring your favorite snack and join your WOL friends for Super Bowl Bingo and watching the big game (and commercials!)!

THANK YOU FROM THE KINERS

Thank you to our church family for celebrating our wedding day with us. We felt so loved and supported. A special and heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes—setting up, serving, and cleaning up. Your dedication and joyful service did not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for each of you. Word of Life is so obviously full of people with servants hearts and a true love of Christ for others… and what a beautiful sight to behold. So many of our guests commented on the kindness and helpfulness of our church family which made us extra proud to be a part of it.

THIRD THURSDAY CHRISMON CRAFTING IS BACK!

The third Thursday of every month beginning February 19^th, a group will get together for fellowship while making Chrimsons at Word of Life. Chrismons are white and gold Christmas ornaments featuring Christian Symbols derived from Christ and Monogram representing Jesus and core faith doctrines.

 Our tree looked so beautiful this past Christmas with all our new Chrismons on the tree. Come be a part of adding more Chrismons to the Word of Life tree. No experience needed!

We meet 6:30 to 8:00. We’ll have some snacks and fellowship. If you have questions ask Ruth Walla or Philip Dani.

WOL COMMUNITY GARDEN

It’s that time of the year again where gardeners are itching to get back in the soil… they may have to wait a few months, but it’s not too early to start planning! If you have a love of gardening we could use your help for our church’s garden! Contact Jim Hewitt or the office to see how you can get involved!

CALL PROCESS UPDATE

The Call Committee is prayerfully exploring all avenues as we seek the next pastor for Word of Life. We continue to reach out to potential candidates for interviews and also have made initial inquiries about the process for requesting a candidate from one of the seminaries. Please continue to keep the call process in your prayers!

I-180 CORRIDOR YOUTH NEWS

Junior and Senior High will be having a game day January 25th at 2 PM at Holy Savior Lutheran Church! Bring a friend, bring a game, and join us for a time of fun and fellowship!

SCRIP

Thanks to everyone who ordered Scrip over the holidays and to everyone who keeps supporting the Scrip program. We will be placing another order after the 1st of the year. If there is anything you would like us to keep on hand just let us know.

OPTIONS FOR PARENTS

LIVE STREAM in our Nursery/Preschool room available during church services for anyone with the wiggles (young and old!). This space has plenty of toys to keep little ones occupied (parents should plan to be in the room with their children.)

Wiggle Room in Room #4 (the room just to the left out the Sanctuary door) is equipped with a TV to stream the service along with chairs, and a few toys. This is a great space for feeding babies or corralling toddlers! This space is also available during Sunday School for those who are not quite ready for the Preschool classroom. Parents should plan to supervise their children in this space.

And, as always, we welcome the squirms, noises, and energy that come with children. God put the wiggle in children, don’t feel like you have to suppress it here!

Children are a gift, and we’d love to support you in the faith formation of your family!
