CONREGATION SELF STUDY UPDATE
As we look forward to the calling of a new pastor, we will be spending January and February reviewing the Narrative Question Summary Statements that were used for developing our Congregation Self Study. The process that the Call Committee used in developing these statement summaries was as follows:
1. Narrative responses were read thoroughly multiple times.
2. Themes were identified through like responses, focusing on words and phrases.
3. Summary statements were developed based on the themes utilizing language from the survey responses.
For this week, we are looking at the following question: What are the most important things you as laity need to be doing to maintain good relationships with your new pastor?
Our summary statements are:
1. We, as a congregation, need to pray for our pastor, encourage our pastor and show him respect through our words and actions.
2. We, as a congregation, need to be active members by attending church, be willing to get involved, serve with time and money, introduce our pastor to the community and stay in the Word.
3. We, as a congregation, need to first welcome, then get to know our pastor by reaching out, checking in with, visiting with, and just spending time with him.
4. We, as a congregation, need to demonstrate openness, patience and adaptability.
5. We, as a congregation, need to practice open and honest communication.
The Word of Life Congregation Self Study & Survey Results are available for your review. There are 3 copies in notebooks on the high top tables in the entryway. Please keep the notebooks within the church building. |
