CONGRATULATIONS JACOB JURCHEN

Jacob Jurchen has been a member at Word of Life for the past 8 years. and has spent several years helping lead worship alongside his family, playing primarily the drums, but occasionally helping out with other instruments. Jacob graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska in December with a degree in Elementary and Middle level Lutheran Education.

Jacob has accepted the Call to serve as 7th grade teacher at Emmanuel Lutheran School in Maui, Hawaii. He will be teaching mixture of 7th and 8th grade Math, Science, and Religion. He will be moving on July 15th. We pray for God’s blessings on Jacob as he begins his ministry.

This Sunday, we will celebrate his entry into ministry with a Service of Farwell and Godspeed.

VOTERS MEETING JUNE 23

The Call Committee would like to invite you to attend an important Voter’s Meeting on June 23, directly following the service. The Call Committee will update the congregation on the call process, and recommend a candidate to vote upon and Call as Pastor of Word of Life.

UNCLE SAM JAM

Join us on July 3, 6pm-fireworks! Word of Life has a great view of the Uncle Sam Jam Fireworks on July 3rd in downtown Lincoln. We’d love to have you join us!

• Hotdogs and Hamburgers are provided, please bring a side or dessert to share.
• Bring a blanket and/or lawn chair for the fireworks, and if you’d like, lawn games.
• We will have some water balloons for the kiddos, so a change of clothes or a swimming suit could be helpful!
• We will serve S’mores around the campfire before the fireworks!
• Bocce Ball tournament starts at 6:30pm, $40/team to enter. winner takes a trophy home and bragging rights for the next year! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

VBS: TIME TO REGISTER!

VBS will be here before we know it. Mark your calendars for July 8-11, 9-11:30am to join us as we “Dive Into Friendship With God!”

We have many needs for VBS, and we’d love if you would be willing to help out with some of our supplies. Below is a list of some of our needs for VBS:

• 5 lbs Green grapes
• 40 – Individual Rice Krispie treats
• 4 – Large Pastic Containers (like empty Sams Club Animal Cracker Tubs)

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

“The Way” would like to invite you to celebrating Christmas in July by supporting Orphan Grain Train and their Christmas Boxes. Please consider picking up instructions for putting together a Christmas Box.

• Take a box, list and label and fill the box with exactly what is on the list, for a boy or girl and mark the label for age group.
• This is very important; you can’t add anything other than what the list says, and you can’t put notes or pictures in the boxes.
• The boxes will need to be filled and returned no later than July 28, 2024. If you have any questions, our life group “The Way ” is organizing this mission this year and will be glad to answer you may have. You can ask Ruth Walla 402-580-1764.

LADIES ICE CREAM SOCIAL AND SCAVENGER HUNT

Save the Date for July 21, 2-3:30pm for an Ice cream Social and Scavenger Hunt. We’ll meet at church for fellowship and fun, and of course, Ice Cream! Bring your thinking caps so you can conquer the Scavenger Hunt!

DEBT REDUCTION UPDATE

The principal balance on Word of Life’s building loan is currently at $16,237. Thanks to your generosity, we are in the home stretch for paying off this loan. If you would like to donate directly toward debt reduction, you may use a “Debt Reduction” envelopes or place donations in the “Change for Change” box near the entryway. Thanks for your support!

OPTIONS FOR PARENTS

In order to better serve our families, we have improved two spaces for children on Sunday mornings.

LIVE STREAM in our Nursery/Preschool room available during church services for anyone with the wiggles (young and old!). This space has plenty of toys to keep little ones occupied (parents should plan to be in the room with their children.)

Wiggle Room in Room #4 (the room just to the left out the Sanctuary door) is equipped with a TV to stream the service along with chairs, and a few toys. This is a great space for feeding babies or corralling toddlers! This space is also available during Sunday School for those who are not quite ready for the Preschool classroom. Parents should plan to supervise their children in this space.

And, as always, we welcome the squirms, noises, and energy that come with children. God put the wiggle in children, don’t feel like you have to suppress it here!

Children are a gift, and we’d love to support you in the faith formation of your family!
