ADULT CONFIRMATION

Pastor Schmidt has started an adult Confirmation class on Sundays at 10am in Pastor’s office. If you want to learn more about Lutheran beliefs or joining Word of Life, please plan to attend!

Jr. Confirmation (7th & 8th grades) will begin on November 10, 9:45 in Pastor’s office.

CALL COMMITTEE UPDATE & REQUEST FOR NOMINATIONS

The Word of Life Call Committee is currently reviewing candidates on our current call lists, but we are also seeking new nominations of pastors to be considered for a call. If you would like to recommend a pastor for consideration by the Call Committee, complete the attached Pastor Call Nomination Form and submit it to a member of the Call Committee or to the Nebraska District LCMS. Call Committee members include: Philip Dani, Angie Ekhoff, Susan Heine, Jim Hewitt, Sarah Jurchen, Nate Meier, Kendra Schleicher, and Lynette Windhorst.

SUNDAY SCHOOL STARTS THIS WEEK!

Sunday School starts this Sunday, September 8.

If you have not yet filled out a Sunday School registration form, please complete & turn in a form for your children. Please check out the Sunday School registration table by the front door. We are excited to have your kids in Sunday School.

Sunday School starts Sunday September 8^th at 9:15 to 10:15

Preschool : age 3-5 years (Room 5)

Kindergarten thru 2^nd grade: ( Room 3)

3^rd thru 6^th grade: (Room 2)

7^th and up : upstairs youth room

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS AND AIDES NEEDED

Are you interested in helping with Children’s Sunday School? We need a few people who could be substitute teachers for Pre-school, K-2^nd grade, 3^rd thru 6^th grade. We could also use a few helpers for the Pre School room on a rotating schedule. The helper doesn’t have to prepare a lesson, just be hands on helping with the kids. Sunday school starts September 8^th. 

We meet from 9:15 to 10:15 every Sunday.

LADIES CHARCUTERIE AND WINERY TRIP

Join the Ladies of Word of Life on the road! On September 22, 2-4pm, meet us up at James Arthur Winery for some food and fellowship. Bring something to add to our Charcuterie Board (crackers, cheese, sausage, berries, olives, veggies, etc…), get yourself a wine slushy or a glass of your favorite wine, and join us out on the patio for some great girl time!

HOLY LAND PRESENTATION

Please join Pastor and Brenda on Tuesday September 24 at 6:30 pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 510 S. 33rd Street as they will be sharing a visual presentation of their trip to Israel. Following in the steps of Jesus, their presentation includes Biblical sites from Galilee to Jerusalem, highlighting Jesus birthplace in Bethlehem, his baptismal site, garden of Gethsemane, Dead Sea and many more! Everyone is welcome to join us as we grow in the understanding of the physical locations and real archeological findings of the Bible!

There is a sign up sheet on the guest registration table in the entry to help the ladies at Redeemer plan for seating and food.

ORPHAN GRAIN TRAIN UPDATE

The Lincoln Collection Center of Orphan Grain Train is celebrating God’s blessing of a new warehouse location by having an open house Saturday, October 19 from 11am-2pm. Please join us at our new location at 1901 Southwest 6th St., Lincoln, NE. A free luncheon meal, tours, and an informational packet will be available. Please join us and meet volunteers, donors and leaders from the International headquarters of Orphan Grain Train, Norfolk, NE.

OPTIONS FOR PARENTS

LIVE STREAM in our Nursery/Preschool room available during church services for anyone with the wiggles (young and old!). This space has plenty of toys to keep little ones occupied (parents should plan to be in the room with their children.)

Wiggle Room in Room #4 (the room just to the left out the Sanctuary door) is equipped with a TV to stream the service along with chairs, and a few toys. This is a great space for feeding babies or corralling toddlers! This space is also available during Sunday School for those who are not quite ready for the Preschool classroom. Parents should plan to supervise their children in this space.

And, as always, we welcome the squirms, noises, and energy that come with children. God put the wiggle in children, don’t feel like you have to suppress it here!

Children are a gift, and we’d love to support you in the faith formation of your family!
