The third Thursday of every month, a group will get together for fellowship while making Chrimsons at Word of Life. Chrismons are white and gold Christmas ornaments featuring Christian Symbols derived from Christ and Monogram representing Jesus and core faith doctrines.
Our next meeting is April 16th. We meet 6:30 to 8:00. We’ll have some snacks and fellowship. If you have questions ask Ruth Walla or Philip Dani.

Read the Scriptures with Confidence, Clarity, and Christ at the Center
Reading and studying the Word of God is a lifelong adventure. But how do we know we’re interpreting it faithfully? How do we make sense of ancient texts filled with mystery, poetry, prophecy, and apocalyptic imagery?
In this course, Reading and Interpreting the Bible, Chad Bird invites you into the grand story of Scripture, a story that stretches from Genesis to Revelation and is still alive and speaking today. You’ll learn how to read both carefully and confidently, paying attention to context and genre while following the Bible’s overarching narrative that always leads us to Christ and our life in Him. This course introduces essential interpretive tools for reading the Bible with clarity, depth, and faithfulness, equipping students to hear God’s voice in His Word and to teach and share the Scriptures with confidence.
Topics Covered in the Course
- How to read the Bible both big-picture and close-up
- Why context and genre matter when interpreting Scripture
- How to read narratives, law, poetry, wisdom, Gospels, epistles, and apocalyptic literature
- How the Bible’s many voices tell one unified story
- How Scripture consistently leads us to Christ
- How to read the Bible not just as an ancient text, but as God’s living Word for today

LIFETIME GIVING WORKSHOP
Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 26, after church for this important Legacy Workshop.
Why is Word of Life Lutheran Church hosting a Legacy Workshop?
Most people have loved ones they wish to remember in their estate plan. Most Lutherans also support ministries that are important to them, including our congregation. Yet few really know the best way to do everything they want to do for their loved ones and to make a gift for ministry. You may be reluctant to attend a workshop/seminar for fear you will have your arm twisted, will receive a sales pitch or will receive non-stop calls in the future. None of those will be true with this workshop.
Craig Stirtz offers numerous educational workshops each year for LCMS congregations. These are not high pressure, sales pitch meetings. Rather they are educational, offering information about mistakes people often make in their estate plans (resulting in more in taxes and less to their loved ones). The workshop also provides information on several ways members can make reduced tax gifts for their loved ones and for ministry. You can leave your checkbook at home, as Craig has nothing to sell. These workshops are offered by the church as a gift to our members. Potluck lunch.
If you do not have a will, if you have not created or reviewed your estate plan in the past 5 years, if you want to leave a gift for ministry or if you just want ideas on how to reduce taxes and get more to your family and your favorite charities, it is important that you join us for this workshop!
Join us at Word of Life Lutheran Church on Sunday, April 26, beginning at 11:45 AM in our Life Center to learn valuable information about how careful estate planning can be a great blessing for you, your loved ones and for the ministries you wish to support. Please sign up by using the QR code to register or notify the church office of your interest by calling (402) 742-9673, or by emailing WOLLincolnOffice@gmail.com .

CALL PROCESS UPDATE
The Call Committee has explored the possibility of calling a candidate from one of our LCMS seminaries. In doing so, it became evident that there is not currently a path forward for Word of Life to call a seminary graduate this spring due to a lack of available candidates.
Meanwhile, the Call Committee recently interviewed two pastors currently serving in the field, but we do not have a candidate to recommend to the congregation at this time. The Call Committee continues work on calling a pastor from the field. Please continue to keep the call process in your prayers!
